Spurred on by travellers who are turning their backs on the traditional approach to travel – boutique establishments like The Xara Palace Relais & Chateaux, are leading the way for guests keen to experience the true personality of the city or country they are visiting.
As a result we are extremely busy with jetsetters who are drawn to places with a more authentic approach – indigenous food, accommodation with a touch of individuality (such as local art or antique pieces of furniture) and a personal approach that ensure guests don’t just feel like a number. The fact that more guests arriving in Malta are interested in our rich, colourful heritage and culture and want to experience the authentic atmosphere of living in a village core is key. Many of our guests want a personal and individual service and to be welcomed in a home-away-from-home environment…and at The Xara Palace Relais & Chateaux we offer exactly that. Guest visiting our hotel are looking for impeccable, personal and genuine service with lots of attention to detail…they seek out the highest quality in food and service and want to know that we can deliver on what was promised.
A boutique hotel is very special and my vision, as well as that of the team, is to create a memory for our guests. Given this vision, we strongly believe in customizing our services to individual guests to increase the fondness of their memory. Our values are very important in how we approach every part of our operation, and have led to us being recognised with numerous local and international awards, as well as the loyalty of our guests and customers.
The Xara Palace Relais & Chateaux is the only hotel in the Medieval City of Mdina, known also at The Silent City. This places a great responsibility on The Xara Palace team to fulfil the reputation of this dream town with its enchanting and historical properties and characteristics and to preserve them to be enjoyed by future generations. Since the Palace was built in the 17th century, it is important for all of us to manage this nobleman’s home sympathetically, both in terms of preserving the medieval grandeur and in supplying the most modern technology and comfort for our guests.
The competitive advantage of The Xara Palace in Malta is that it is entirely unique. It is the only hotel that is located within a traditional village core, as part of the old capital city. This extraordinary fact is borne out by the relationship of the property to the Medieval City of Mdina.
Building a unique brand which elevates all of our hospitality offerings is reliant largely on our collective ability to communicate our promise with consistency. This means that every impression our customers have of us – from the first to the hundredth – must be of the highest quality enhanced by our commitment we demonstrate towards excellence. The competitive advantage of The Xara Palace is founded on the ability of the service to produce a suitably positive emotion or memory for the guest or diner. All customer management innovation is centred on building an emotional resonance with the guest in a highly suitable manner. For example, to maintain the mystique of the Silent City concept is to create a marked level of tranquillity for all guests. Other innovations that deliver positive emotions for guests including bringing the 5C’s of Relais & Chateaux…Calm, Courtesy, Character, Charm and Cuisine.
For two consecutive years, The Xara Palace was selected by world-leading travel specialists Gayot and featured on Fox News as one of the world’s top ten castle hotels and attracted visits by celebrities such as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Sharon Stone, Orlando Bloom, Jennifer Anniston, Bruce Willis, Simply Red’s Mick Hucknall, Josef Calleja, Lucio Dalla, Rupert Everett and a raft of VIP’s, politicians, entrepreneurs, business leaders and other prominent figures.
I’m lucky to lead a determined team who are entirely focused on our vision.
