With a heart full of gratitude, Infinitely Xara bids farewell to a gentleman of humble demeanor, Paul Scicluna, who worked with Infinitely Xara for the past years and will be retiring. Paul, who is synonymous with The Medina Restaurant and is known for his sterling working at our restaurant, started his employment at The Medina back in 1981 after he was asked to join the restaurant football team. At the time, the restaurant was named The Xara Palace and used to operate in what is today the reception area of The Xara Palace Relais & Chateaux in Misraħ il-Kunsill, in Mdina.

Back then, when Mabel Strickland was the owner of the property, Ms. Noella Arrigo ran the hotel while Mr. Noel Debono was in charge of catering, breakfast, lunch and dinner of the property.

In 1997, due to personal reasons Paul Scicluna considered leaving The Medina Restaurant however with some words of encouragement he decided to not only stay but also enhance his career by taking courses at the Institute of Tourism Studies by studying Food & Beverage Service and Management.

We asked Paul if he will be missing us and the job. His reply was: “I will definitely miss the busy evenings serving à la carte menu to our numerous loyal clients. We have had a lot of days where we had excellent service and seeing costumers enjoying themselves. Overall this is what I loved the most and is definitely what I will miss.”

During Paul’s tenure with the Company The Medina Restaurant won several awards but Paul’s favourite is – ‘The Colin Best Award’ for the most consistently outstanding restaurant.

“I am sad to leave both the team and the place that is very close to my heart, but at the same time I am looking forward to my retirement. I have plans to spending more time at my farm in Dingli and the boathouse in Armier during summer. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, especially the F&B Management but last but not least our Directors Mr Justin Zammit Tabona and Mrs Nicola Paris for their kindness and presence” were Paul’s last words who retires on Saturday 22nd February.

From all of us at Infinitely Xara we wish Paul a healthy, peaceful life and we thank him for his impeccable service towards our company.
